Coimbatore : Revenue district level Chess competition by Department of School education was held today at CSI boys Higher Secondary School in the city.
Over 250 students, winners of 8 zones in Coimbatore and 3 zones in Pollachi took part in the championship held under 4 various age categories- Under 11,14,17 and 19 for both boys and girls.
The competition was inaugurated by Rajeswari, District Inspector of physical education along with D.G.Sathish, Joint Secretary of SES, Coimbatore, N. Parameshwaran, SES Secretary, Pollachi and B. Krishna Moorthy, Cheif Arbiter of the tournament.
In the under 11 years category, S K Vaishnavi (R J Matriculation School), K Nethra (Metro School), K Sanjini (Avila convent) were successful in girls category and G Akash (SES), S Laxman Shree (GD Matriculation), A Vetri selvan (Vijaya Matriculation) were the top finishers in boys category.
In the under 14 years girls category, G Shri Sivani (VCV school), M Jayashri (Chinmaya Vidhyalaya) and S Sherlina (GRG) secured the top three position while in boys under 14 years S Harshad (Stanes), S Raghul (St Thomas) and R Sarvesh Aadityaa (Gopal Naidu) were the winners.
In under 17 years category, M Rosewe (Sowdeswari), P Deekksha (Shanthi school, Pollachi) and S Abbitha (GKD) in girls and in boys, C Mukhesh (Holy Trinity), K Nishanth (GRG) and K P Arivarasu (Sowdeswari) were successful in their respective categories.
In under 19 years girls category, G Soundariya Lakshmi (GD), R Harsha (Vidhya niketan) and J Shalini (Hindustan) and in boys T V Arunachalam Shiva ( Lisieux Matriculation), A Abhishek (Government HSS school Kalapatti) and A Harshavardan (Vidhya niketan) emerge victorious.
The winners of this competition will take part in the state level competitions to be held by Department of School education.
