Jayalalakshmi Sports Academy conducted its second Juniors School season here at the CDBA courts from October 5-8. 12 school teams including 12 girls team from various parts of the country participated in the tournament.
The tournament was conducted under a knockout and league basis, for both boys and girls. In the Girls category, NSVV Matriculation School, Pattiveeranpatti, Sacred Hearts from Salem, Alvernia from Coimbatore and St.Joseph's from Chennai were the top four teams to qualify for the league matches.
Of the top four teams, the girls from Alvernia Matriculation School topped the table in the league stage to claim the trophy in the Girls category. Following Alvernia, St. Joseph's from Chennai secured the second place in the tournament.
In the Boys category, Chennai Velammal School won the VRK Jasa Venkatachalam Ramachandran Rathna Bhai Memorial trophy by defeating the boys from K K Naidu in the finals with a scoreline of 57-53.
Selvaraj, President of Coimbatore District Basketball Association along with Syril Irudhayaraj, Coach YMCA, Coimbatore presented the trophies to the winners of the tournament.
