As many as eight students from the Silambalaya Silambam Centre in the city has bagged a total of 19 medals in the World Silambam Championship held at Pinang, Malaysia on Sunday.
As many as eight students from the Silambalaya Silambam Centre in the city has bagged a total of 19 medals in the World Silambam Championship held at Pinang, Malaysia on Sunday.

The World Silambam Championship kick-started on October 2 in Malasiya, in which over 350 students from 10 different countries took part in the competition which was conducted under nine different categories. Each participant is allowed to take part in three categories, including one compulsory category.
Sri Varshan, Monish, Mary Priyadharshini, Pooja, Krishna Kumar, Arun Pandian, Nivetha and Saran Raj were the students from the Silambalaya Club to take part in the competition and bag medals. While Sri Varshan bagged a gold, silver and bronze in the mini Sub Junior category, Monish bagged two bronze medals in the Sub Junior Boys category. In the Sub Junior girls category, Mary Priyadharshini won a gold medal.
In the Junior Girls category, Pooja secured two golds and a bronze medal, while in the Boys category, Krishna Kumar won a gold and silver in the Junior category. In the Senior boys category, Arun Pandian bagged a gold and bronze while in the Gilrs category, Nivetha secured a gold, silver and bronze, while Saran Raj bagged a gold and bronze.
Dr. P Selvakumar, President of Silambalaya and trainer Ranjith Kumar lauded the winners of the World Silambalam Championship.
