For the first time, District level ranking TT tournament held in the city

For the first time in the city, Coimbatore District Table Tennis Association (CDTTA) conducted its first ever district level ranking tournament in the city on Sunday.



Coimbatore For the first time in the city, Coimbatore District Table Tennis Association (CDTTA) conducted its first ever district level ranking tournament in the city on Sunday.

In a bid to improve standard and consistency of paddlers from the city, the CDTTA association had planned to conduct eight ranking district level tournament in the city. The winners of each tournament will be ranked as per the Tamil Nadu Table Tennis Association to represent Districts in the State level tournament. In every tournament, the winners will get 80 points, 60 points for runner and 40 points for the paddler, finishing third.

As a part of this initiative, the first ranking tournament was held in the city on Sunday in which more than 150 players from Coimbatore, Mettupalayam and Pollachi participated. The tournament was conducted under various categories - Cadet, Sub Juniors, Juniors, youth senior seniors for both men and women. 

While talking to SimpliCity, Sekar, President of CDTTA stated that, "Coimbatore District Table Tennis Association has decided to conduct ranking tournament to identify best paddlers in the city. Earlier, players were selected from a selection tournament conducted by the association but analysing the players from one single tournament is not easy and some good players still miss their chance. So to address this issue and to improve the quality of the game, CDTTA will be conducting 8 ranking tournament to select best players from the city."

Dr. Palaniappam, President of Bharathi Colony along with Sekar, President of CDTTA distributed the medals and certificates to the winners of the tournament.

Mini cadet boys: Winner: Rejish; Runner up: ReyanshCadet boys: Winner : Ilakkiyan; Runner up: Vishnu
