Coimbatore: The South-Western Zonal Swimming competition for CBSE schools commenced at the SSVM School near Mettupalayam, on Sunday.

The event, which will take place four days from today, will see more than 1200 students from more than 300 schools from the southern states of India including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Pondicherry and Andaman.

Swimming competitions for under-11, 14, 17 and 19 age categories will he held during the four-day event which was formally inaugurated today by Arjuna Award winner, Wilson Cherian.
Prize shields and trophies will be distributed on the valedictory function to be held on October 9.
SSVM School Executive Trustees Manimegalai Mohandas, Principal Suguna, Arjuna Awardee Shiny Wilson and many others were present at the inaugural event.
