Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Under-19 badminton team which will participate in the 65th School Games Federation of India (SGFI) held by the School Education Department was selected here at the National Sports Centre (NSC) in the outskirts of the city, on Wednesday.

Over 80 students, comprising of 40 boys and 40 girls from Coimbatore, Chennai, Salem, Thanjavur, Vellore, Kanyakumari, Cuddalore and Madurai took part in the selection trials. Of 80 students, 5 from the Boys and 5 from the Girls categories were selected to represent Tamil Nadu in the national level games.
In the Boys category, R Vikash Prabhu (Coimbatore), S Eashwar (Kancheepuram), S Sarankanth (Avinashi), K Abhinaav (Madurai) and R Sudharsan (Erode) were selected to take part in the national level competitions. While in the Girls category, K M Sivapriya (Tirupur), R R Mohana Lakshmi (Coimbatore), D Lavanya (Chennai), U M Kaviya (Erode) and B B. Bimby (Vellamkode) were selected.
"The selected students will have a camp before the competition, with the best coaching provided by well-qualified coaches," stated Raja Rajeswari, DIP.
