The South Zone Hockey Tournament between the CBSC schools at the Sachidananda Jyoti Nikethan International School in Kallar kick-started three days ago. Over 500 students aged under 17 and 19 from more than 36 schools from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra participated in the competition.

The matches were held on a knock-out basis for men and women separately over two days. The finals were held today, with Sachidananda Jyoti Nikethan School and Ooty Lawrence School qualifying in the Under-17 Girls category. Sachidananda School emerged winners while Ooty Lawrence were runners-up in the tournament. In the Under-17 Boys category, Sachidananda Jyoti Niketan School ranked first and Jawaharlal School Neyveli were ranked second.
In the Under-19 Boys category, Ooty Lawrence School emerged winners, while Sachidananda Jyoti Niketan were runners-up. In the Under-19 Girls category, Velammal Vidyashram School from Chennai won the first place and Sachidananda Jyoti Niketan emerged second.
Former Indian hockey player Arjun Halappa and School Secretary Kavidasan congratulated the winners and awarded them with trophies and shields.
