Coimbatore: The Department of School Education conducted the 65th School Games Federation of India (SGFI) state selection for the Tamil Nadu team, here at the National Sports Centre in the outskirts of Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The Department of School Education conducted the 65th School Games Federation of India (SGFI) state selection for the Tamil Nadu team, here at the National Sports Centre in the outskirts of Coimbatore.
About 80 students from various districts of Tamil Nadu took part in the selection from which 10 students (5 boys and 5 girls) were selected to represent Tamil Nadu in the national level badminton competitions to be held later this year.
In the Boys category, K M Nidhin, R Prem Kumar Prabhu, D N Manoj, G Nikil from Coimbatore and R K Naveen from Chennai were the top five boys selected.

In the Girls category, S Deepta and R Mounika from Chennai, S Shri Gayathri, S G Prennitha from Coimbatore and M Reeva Evangeline were selected to represent Tamil Nadu.
"This is the first time that we are conducting state selection in the city. This year, since we have top class facilities and excellent infrastructure at the National Sports Centre in the city, we decided to conduct the selections here. We are planning to host national-level competitions here in these courts since we have good infrastructure," said Raja Rajeshwari, District Inspector of Physical Education. She thanked Kamala Kannan, the Managing Director of National Sports Centre for providing the venue and T shirts for all participants.
