Coimbatore district cricket Association's cricket league for the year 2019-20 was kicked off on September 28, Sunday. In the opening day of the league, Kovai legends CA and Warrior XI (teams qualified from the knockout tournament) played at PSG medical college grounds.
Batting first, Kovai Legends CA posted a decent total 236 on board. Defending the total, Kovai Legends bowler bowled at the right spot to restrict the opponent from scoring. Shabeeshwaran's exemplary bowling spell of 5/19 helped Victors to bundle out the opponents in just double digit.
Similarly, in the second division league match held at Coimbatore Institute of Technology grounds, Rajasekar Mani Memorial cricket club defeated Rainbow 1972 M.M.C.C by 7 wickets to start the campaign with a win.
Winning the toss and batting first, Rainbow 1972 struggled in the beginning of the game, as they lost 3 early wickets. Despite losing three early wickets, the middle and tail enders stabilised their innings to post 179 in 50 overs.
Chasing 180 runs, R.M.M.C.C batsmen started their innings responsibly and with Perumalsamy's and Pradeep's half century, it made it easy for R.M.M.C.C to seal the opponents in the 45th over.
