Hosts Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology lifted the trophy in the Anna University Zone IX cricket tournament defeating PSG Tech by 30 runs in the finals, at SSIET on Sunday.
Hosts Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology lifted the trophy in the Anna University Zone IX cricket tournament defeating PSG Tech by 30 runs in the finals, at SSIET on Sunday.
About 17 engineering colleges in the Zone 9 of Anna University Sports Board participated in the tournament which kick-started on September 25. The tournamnet was conducted under a knockout basis, with the finals of the tournament held on Sunday at the Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology grounds.
In the finals, batting first, Kabin Shanjay's solid batting performance of 73 from 63 balls helped the host put up a decent 146 runs on board. Chasing a decent total in the final, the PSG Tech batsmen were able to score only 116 runs, thus conceding the trophy to SSIET by 30 runs.
Kabin Shanjay of SSIET was selected as the best batsman of the tournament while his teammate Mithun Chandar was selected as the best wicketkeeper. Muthusaravanan of PSG college of Technology was selected as the best player and bowler of the tournament.
Dr. S Prakash, Principal of SSIET was the chief guest who presented the trophies and individual awards to the winners of the tournament. Others present at the prize distribution were Kannan, the Physical Director of SSIET and Coach Suresh Kumar.
