Coimbatore : Rupa Gurunath, Director of India cements and Daughter of former BCCI President N.Srinivasan has been elected as the President of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), making her the first woman of the association.
Coimbatore : Rupa Gurunath, Director of India cements and Daughter of former BCCI President N.Srinivasan has been elected as the President of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), making her the first woman of the association.
She's also the wife of Gurunath, who was banned from the IPL for being involved in match fixing and this got the Chennai Super Kings team banned for 2 years from the IPL.

The 87th annual general meeting of TNCA was held at TNCA office on Thursday at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai. As part of the meet, 45-year-old, Rupa Gurunath, Director of India cements was elected unopposed as the President of TNCA. She will hold her post for the term of three years.

Addressing the media after the announcement, Rupa said "I am happy to become the first woman President of the TNCA. The TNCA has been a professionally run State Association, which has a long history and headed by eminent personalities."
"My immediate priorities are to finalise the lease agreement with the Government and opening the three stands. Of course, TNCA has zero tolerance for any form of corruption and TNCA will take appropriate action on such issues," she assured.

She further promised to continue to provide all necessary amenities to the players and help them perform at their best in all forms of Cricket.
Along with Rupa, other officers bearers were also elected unopposed, as there were no nominations filed for the posts.
The other elected were : T. J. Srinivasaraj, Vice President for City, Dr. P Ashok Sigamani was elected as Vice President for districts.
R.S. Ramasamy was elected as Secretary, K.A. Shankar as Joint Secretary and N. Venkatraman as Deputy Joint Secretary of TNCA. All the office bearers were elected unanimously and will hold their post for three years.
After being elected as Secretary of TNCA, Ramasamy said, "I am extremely honoured to have been elected for the post of the Hon. Secretary of TNCA, for the first time from the Districts. It is an office which has been held by illustrious members of the TNCA in the past and I shall strive to emulate the standards set by my predecessors. We shall work under our new President for the betterment of the game and all players."
The general body also nominated/appointed the following members unanimously for the season 2019-2020 :
The TNPL Governing Council: K. Shivakumar, Keshav Sriraman, P. Ilangovan, nominated member of ICA, nominated member of CAG, the office-bearers of the TNCA as ex-officio members, CEO.
Ombudsman: Justice K. Kannan (Retd. Judge of Punjab and Haryana).
Ethics Officer: Justice M. Jeyapaul, (Retd. Judge, Madras High Court).
Auditors: M/s. P.B. Vijayaraghavan & Co.
Cricket Advisory Committee for a term of three years (2019-20 to 2021-22): B. Kalyanasundaram, T. Karunamoorty, Sumathi Hariharan Aiyer.
