Coimbatore girl’s basketball team emerged winners of the under thirteen category at the in the State Level Basketball competition that was hosted in Maurai. The team of boy’s finished third in the event. The students who performed well in this tournament have been selected for the state team. R.Priyadarshan of PSG Sarvajana School, S. Arul KaniSairam of RKS School were selected for the boy's state team and K.Sathya, A. Nikitha, Harithra, D.Booshana were selected for the girl's state team.

A felicitation function was held in Coimbatore on behalf of Coimbatore Basketball Association to honour the students who have participated in the state level competition in Madurai. A cash prize of Rs. 2000 was given to the members of girl’s team and Rs.1000 cash price was given to the members of the boy's team.
At this event, Krishnan, Joint Secretary of the Coimbatore Basketball association welcomed the gathering. Assistant heads Anand and Palanisamy delivered the special address. Coimbatore District Basketball Association president Selvaraj distributed the prices to the students.
On the sidelines of this occasion Selvaraj said “Coimbatore Basketball Association is encouraging the students who are interested in playing basketball. The association has infrastructure that is required to train the players. Professional coaches have are also employed to train aspirants. The students who are been selected for the state team should play well and also should prepare themselves for the National selections. The Coimbatore Basketball Association will support them by providing the necessary facilities.” Selvaraj said.
In order to encourage young players National Level Basketball Competitions are hosted conducted in Coimbatore every year. A Coimbatore-based coach has been appointed by the Basketball Association Coach to train the Tamil Nadu under 13 men’s basketball team. Coimbatore District Basketball Association Secretary Cyril delivered the thanking address.
