Coimbatore : City's promising athlete M. Sathish Kumar has clinched gold at the 17th Federation Cup National Junior Athletic championships organised by Athletic Federation of India on Thursday.
The City star who had already secured silver in 5000 mts in the run has now stunned everyone in the long distance run with a timing 31:30 secs to clinch gold in the 10000 mts run in the National Junior Athletic championship.
Sathish hails from a humble family background with his school education from a Corporation school in the city. Sathish recalls that his coach Vairavanathan was the one who exposed his talents, while he was starring at a marathon poster near the stadium, sometime back.

Hard work and dedication from this young athlete made him secure several medals both State and National level events.
More than 800 participants from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab and various part of the county participated in the meet.
Sathish credits his coach Vairavanathan, founder of Genesis Sports Club for his contribution to achieve this medal and says that his recent achievement motivates him to achieve great heights.
