Coimbatore: M. Sathish Kumar, Class XII student in Rathinapuri Corporation school here in the city has clinched silver in the 17th Federation Cup National Junior Athletic championships organised by Athletic Federation of India on Tuesday.
Coimbatore: M. Sathish Kumar, from Coimbatore has clinched silver in the 17th Federation Cup National Junior Athletic championships organised by Athletic Federation of India on Tuesday.
The City lad is one among the 10 athletes from the city to take part in the meet and took part in the 5000 mts run. Best performers in the state level meet took part in today's meet.
Sathish has been consistently performing in all levels of the meet in the recent years and added one more medal to his name by clocking 14:43:94 to clinch silver in the opening day of today's meet.
Sathish was 2 seconds short of gold medal, as Vikash from Haryana clocked 14:42:11 to clinch gold.
More than 800 participants from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab and various part of the county participated in the meet.
Sathish credits his coach Vairavanathan, Founder of Genesis sports club for guiding him in the right path. With much cheer and hope, Sathish says that this acheivement has given him more confidence to march towards his dream.
