Coimbatore : The PSG College of Technology emerged as champions of the Zone IX badminton tournament, defeating Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology in the finals held at the PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research, on Sunday.
Coimbatore : The PSG College of Technology emerged as champions of the Zone IX badminton tournament, defeating Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology in the finals held at the PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research, on Sunday.
PSG iTech hosted the Anna University Zone IX badminton tournament for women at its college campus in which PSGTech, PSG iTech, CIT and Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology battled it out in the semi-finals.
In the first semi-finals, PSG iTech and Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology (SIET) clashed, with SIET emerging victorious by 2-0 to qualify for the finals. In the other semi-finals, PSG Tech defeated the Coimbatore Institute of Technology by 2-0 to march into the finals.
In the finals, PSG Tech prevailed over SIET by 2-0 to claim the Anna University Zone IX trophy. Shanmathi and Arthi of PSG College of Technology were named the best players of the tournament. The winners of the tournament will take part in the inter-zone tournament to be held later this year.
R Ramesh, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research distributed prizes to the winners of the tournament. A Robinson, the Director of Physical Education and Assistant Physical Directors, Eashwar and Yogapriya worked hard to organise the tournament.
