Coimbatore : As many as 18 Arts and Science colleges will be taking part in the three-day Bharathiar University B Zone inter college football tournament which was kick started today at PSG College of Arts and Science (PSG CAS) here.
The winners of the tournament which will be conducted on knockout basis will be taking part in the Bharathiar University inter zone tournament to be held later this year.
The tournament was inaugurated by Dr. T Kannaian, Secretary of PSG CAS along with Dr. D Brindha, Principal and B. Navaneethan, Director of Physical Education, PSG CAS.
Today being the first day of the tournament, four matches were conducted, under knock out basis. In the first match, Tips College of Arts and Science defeated Sri Ramalinga Sowdambigai College of Science and Commerce by 3-0 to qualify to the next round.
And, in another match, Sasurie College of Arts and Science claimed 3-0 victory over Bharathiar university College of Arts and Science.
Taking a 3-2 lead, Bishop Appasamy college of Arts and Science prevailed over RVS college of Arts and Science and Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science defeated KSG college of Arts and Science by 2-0.
