Coimbatore : Hosts Nirmala College for Women lifted the overall championship trophy in the Bharathiar University inter-college weightlifting championship for women held at the Nirmala College campus on Thursday.
Coimbatore : Hosts Nirmala College for Women lifted the overall championship trophy in the Bharathiar University inter-college weightlifting championship for women held at the Nirmala College campus on Thursday.
The Bharathiar University zone level weightlifting one-day championship was conducted under 10 different categories, which included Under 45 to 87+ kilograms. Over 50 participants from nine various colleges from Coimbatore, Erode and Tirupur took part in the event. In this championship, Nirmala College triumphed in the competition with a total tally of 100 points.
Following Nirmala College, the PKR Arts College for Women from Gopichettipalayam secured 61 points to emerge as runners-up in the tournament.
The third and fourth places in the competition were secured by Kamalam College of Arts and Science, Anthiyur (55 points) and Erode Arts and Science College (40 points).
The competition was inaugurated by Dr. Mary Josephine, Dean of Academics, Nirmala college for Women along with Palanisamy, Proprietor of Kumaran Steels.
