Coimbatore : Over 250 school boys and girls actively took part in the regional level badminton selection trials held by the Department of School Education here at National Sports Centre on Saturday.
Coimbatore : Over 250 school boys and girls actively took part in the regional level badminton selection trials held by the Department of School Education here at National Sports Centre on Saturday.
The Department of School education conducted selection trials for players from Coimbatore to represent the state level Badminton tournament in the upcoming 65th School Games Federation of India (SGFI) tournament.
More than 250 Shuttlers from Coimbatore, Erode, Nilgiris and Tirupur took part in the selection trials which was conducted in Under 14, 17 and 19 years categories for both boys and girls.
Five players in each category were selected who would represent the state level competitions.
In under 14 years boy’s category Arul Murugan, G.N Niranjaan, C.V Jayakrishna, S Aswath and G.P Vinayak Ram were selected. D.N Manoj, G Nikil, R Prem Kumar Prabhu, S Mirthul and K.M Midhun were successful in under 17 categories while S. Eshwar, R. Vikash Prabhu, K Hirushikesan, R Sudharsan, S Saran Kanth secured top position in the boys' category.
In girl’s category, S Sri Gayathri, S.G Prennithe, G.N Atchaya, S Shrinidhi and E Vasundhra were selected in under 17 years category while in under 19 years, K.M Sivapriya, R.R Mohana Lakshmi, U.M Kaviya, S.R Krithya and T Harini Devi emerged successful. In under 14 year’s category, S Rakshitha Sree, Sadhana Fenelon, R Shashvini, K.M Shiva Dharani and P Prashithe were selected to take part in the state-level competitions.
