Coimbatore : Nachimuthu Polytechnic College from Pollachi lifted the trophy in Coimbatore division Inter- Polytechnic colleges Hockey tournament for men organised by Inter Polytechnic Athletic Association of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Inter Polytechnic college (Coimbatore division) competitions were organised at PSG Polytechnic college here in the city, in which Hockey, carom and chess competitions were conducted today.
In Hockey tournament held today, around 12 teams participated in which PSG, Nachimuthu Polytechnic College, NPA Polytechnic College, Kothagiri and Nanjiah Lingammal Polytechnic College were the top four teams qualified to the semifinals.
In the finals of the tournament, Nachimuthu Polytechnic College played against Nanjiah Lingammal Polytechnic College and defeated them by 2-0 to claim the trophy. In the third-place clash between PSG Polytechnic and NPA Kothagiri, PSG sailed over NPA by 2-0 to secure third place.
Similarly in carom tournament held today at PSG Polytechnic College, Suguna Polytechnic College emerged champions of Coimbatore zone as they defeated Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College by 10-1 and 8-6. The third and fourth places were secured by PSG Polytechnic College and GRG Polytechnic College.
Dr.A. Devarajan Director of Physical Education Nachimuthu Polytechnic College and Mr.Shanmugavel, Physical Director Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College presented the Trophies and certificate to the winners.
Others present at the prize distribution were Dr. B Giriraj, Principal of PSG Polytechnic College and P.B. Murali Krishnan, Director of Physical education, department of PSG.
