Coimbatore: Kongu Arts and Science College from Erode emerged as champions at Bharathiar University's Inter College football tournament for women hosted by KPR college of Arts Science and research on Wednesday in the city outskirts.
Coimbatore: Kongu Arts and Science College from Erode emerged as champions at Bharathiar University's Inter College football tournament for women hosted by KPR college of Arts Science and research on Wednesday in the city outskirts.
As many as 16 college teams from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Udumalpet took part in the tournament which was conducted under knockout and league basis. Kongu Arts and Science College from Erode, Bharathiar University, Michael Job Memorial College of Education for Women and Palanisamy College of Arts, Perundurai were the four teams qualified in the league matches.
In league stage matches, Kongu College with 7 points emerged winners of the tournament, while Palanisamy College of Arts with 5 points secured the runners place.
Following Kongu and Palanisamy College, Bharathiar University and Michael Job Memorial College secured third and fourth place respectively.
Dr.S.T.N.Rajeshwaran, Director of Physical Education, Bharathiar University, Dr.T.Radhakrishnan, Bharathiar university and Dr.S.Balusamy, Principal of KPR College were the chief guest at the valedictory event.
