Coimbatore: Thirteen-year-old S.A. Pranav from the city has been selected to represent team India in the European Ice Skating Championships which are scheduled to kick start on September 6 at Belarus, Europe.
The young Pranav from Coimbatore happens to be one among the 26 skaters from the country to take part in the championship.

He will represent the country in the under Junior C category (13-15 years) in short track speed skating category.

Pranav who has been taking part in many national and international competitions and won several medals in the international arena, is the only skater from India (under 10-13 years category) qualified to the finals of the Asian Championship, which was held at Jakarta.
Talking to SimpliCity, the young skater, Pranav said, "Since this is the first championship where India and Belarus are to vie for the honours, I'm very much thrilled and happy representing the nation. As we don't have enough training facilities in the city, currently I'm working on my fitness and practising roller staking to keep me in touch with the sport. My ultimate aim is to take part in the winter Olympics and win a gold medal for our country."
"Pranav's consistent performance and dedication towards the sport earned him his spot in the European championship" lauded his coach.
Beginning of his Career and acheivements
The 13-year-old skater started his career as an in-line skater at the age of six and since then Pranav has been winning laurels in the sport, where he excelled in many district and state-level competitions.
Later in 2015, Pranav made his debut in the ice skating at Kashmir. As there is no facility in the State to practice ice skating, Pranav travelled to other States and Countries for training purpose in the past few years.
He claimed two gold and two bronze medals in ice skating open championship held at the Philippines in September last year and emerged as the first skater from the city to take part in the finals of Asian championship, under 10-13 years category.
