Coimbatore: Coimbatore Institute of Technology lifts the trophy at Zone IX Hockey tournament for men organised by PSG college of Technology in the City on Saturday.
Around six colleges in the Zone IX participated in the tournament which kick started on Friday at PSG tech grounds. The tournament was conducted under knockout basis in which CIT, Park College, PSG Tech and Dr. NGP entered the semi finals.
In the finals of the tournament, Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) and Park College of Technology vied for the trophy in which the former defeated the latter by 4-2 to emerge champions of the tournament. In anothet match, PSG Tech clinched an easy 5-0 victory over Dr. NGP College of Engineering to secure the third place.
Similarly in the badminton tournament held at PSG Tech, Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology defeated the home team PSG by 3:2 to lift the Trophy. The third and fourth place was secured by CIT and KPR Institute of engineering and Technology.
Manoj from Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology and Yeswanth from PSG tech were selected as best players of the tournament.
DR M. Senthil Kumar, HOD, Production department, PSG Tech distributed the prizes to the winners of the tournament.
Dr. S Somasundaramoorthy, HOD, Department of physical education and participants were present at the prize distribution.
