The 62nd Republic day athletics meet by school education department is being organised at various schools in the city. As part of the meet, Athletic meet for schools under Zone 'A' is being hosted by St. Michael Matric School here on Wednesday and Thursday.
Earlier, the meet was inaugurated by R. Murugan, Chief Educational Officer along with N. Geetha, District Educational Officer, Raja Rajeswari, District Director of Physical Education and John Joseph Stanis.
The sports meet is being conducted under various age categories - Under 14,16,17 and 19 years for both boys and girls. In the first day of the meet, R. Sneka, J. Dharshan, M. Yuvan Raj, V. Anaga, M Priyanka, P. Thashitha, K. Pooja Sree, B. Sujith, B. Balachander, P. Pavan Kumar, K. Subash Sahani, V. Ponmanonmani, P. S Chandramugi, S.Abishek and S. Sainath emerged victorious in their respective categories.
