Coimbatore: As many as 12 students from Coimbatore brought laurels to the city by bagging a total of 24 medals in the International Open Karate Championship organised by the Anrondo Karate Association at Pattaya, Thailand on August 25.
Coimbatore: As many as 12 students from Coimbatore brought laurels to the city by bagging a total of 24 medals in the International Open Karate Championship organised by the Anrondo Karate Association at Pattaya, Thailand on August 25.
12 young lads from JKTC Cyril Karate Do India Association under the guidance of Asian Referee and Indian coach, Cyril Vinoth represented the country in the championship in which over 400 participants from India and Thailand took part.

Among the 400 participants, around 80 students from various parts of India participated in the championship in which 12 young karate students, Preethi, Dharshini, Subiksha Sarani, Abhi Varshini, Aswin, Rishi Adhi Narayan, Vivin Irutha Raj, Nirmal Kumar, Rithin Kumar, Shibi Prasad, Sanjay and Prathuman from Coimbatore marked their presence.

The city lads bagged 18 gold medals, 2 silvers and 4 bronze medals in the overall championship and emerged as the best performers in the championship. The young medalists were given a rousing reception on their return, at the Coimbatore International Airport.
