Coimbatore: Egger Sports Club entered into the top four after they defeated Origin Regional Cricket Club in the quater final clash of CDCA league entry tournament for CRI Trophy today at PSG medical college ground on Monday.
Coimbatore: Egger Sports Club entered into the top four after they defeated Origin Regional Cricket Club in the quater final clash of CDCA league entry tournament for CRI Trophy today at PSG medical college ground on Monday.
The quater finals of the tournament was held at various grounds in the city. At a match held in Pollachi, Egger sports club played against Origin Regional cricket club and clinched a thrilling victory to enter semi finals of the tournament.
Batting first at PSG IMS "C", Egger sports club scored 190 in 50 overs, Tamil Anban's 34 helped Egger sports club to post 190.
Though Origin Regional started their innings scoring around 60 runs in the first powerplay, they failed to carry the momentum till end and fell 8 runs short of target. Thus, Egger booked their spot in the semi finals to be held tomorrow.
Scores : At PSGIMS ''C'', Egger Sports Club 190/9 in 50 overs (S.Tamilanban 34, R.Manikandan 3/20) defeated Origin Regional C.C 182 in 47.3 overs (Y.Santhosh 67, M.Rajkumar 30 , S.Mahendraguhan 3/20).
Similarly, in another quater finals held at Coimbatore Institute of Technology grounds, Appasamy C.C defeated R.K.M.V.C.C by 18 runs to enter semi finals.
Appasamy C.C 168 in 42.2 overs (A.Venugopal 32, S.Muruganandan 3/48, M.Mohan Kumar 4/35) defeated R.K.M.V C.C 150 in 45.4 overs (M.Vimal Raj 33, E.Saravanan 32, K.G.Girish 47, P.Balakrishnan 3/11, G.Selva Kumar 3/27).
In a match held at Sri Shakthi College "B" : Warriors XI Cricket Club 73 in 23.4 overs (S.Kalingaraj 4/17, B.Manikandan 3/25) lost to National Sports School Cricket Academy 74/3 in 14.5 overs (R.Suresh babu 39*).
At PIE Tech (Pollachi) : Grand Dravid C.C 207 in 48.4 overs (G.Gokulnath 58, S.Sakthivel 54, P.Praveenkumar 3/28) defeated Indian Sports C.C 114 in 34.1 overs (B.Sivasankar 47, M.Ramaraj Nallendran 6/42).
