Coimbatore: Media XI team emerged as champions in the Inter media cricket tournament for Sri Krishna trophy, as they defeated Times of India (TOI) by 8 wickets in the finals on Saturday at Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology here.
Coimbatore: Media XI team emerged as champions in the Inter media cricket tournament for Sri Krishna trophy, as they defeated Times of India (TOI) by 8 wickets in the finals on Saturday at Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology here.
The tournament featured seven teams from media, The new Indian Express, The Hindu, Times of India, Media XI, Deccan Chronicle, Dinamalar and Dinakaran.
The tournament was conducted under league and top four teams qualified to the semi finals. In the semi finals, Times of India played against Dinamalar and defeated them to qualify into finals, while Media XI defeated The Hindu to qualify into finals.
In the finals, media XI won the toss and elected to bowl first, taking wickets early helped them to bundle out the opponent, TOI for 112 in the 19th over. Following, a good bowling performance, Media XI while batting lost their openers very early. Yet they batted responsibly and chased down the target in the 15th over to lift the trophy.

Babu of media XI with his all round performance (3 wickets and 29 runs) was selected as 'Man of the finals'.

Dr. Baby Shakila, Principal of Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science distributed the trophies to the winners.
Sri Krishna Institutions physical directors, Kumaresan and suresh made necessary arrangements for the tournament.
