Coimbatore : The untimely and unnatural death of former Indian Cricketer V.B. Chandrasekhar, who died at the age of 57 in Chennai on Friday has left the cricket fraternity in shock.
Coimbatore : The untimely and unnatural death of former Indian Cricketer V.B. Chandrasekhar, who died at the age of 57 in Chennai on Friday has left the cricket fraternity in shock.
Recalling his contributions to the district cricket, the Coimbatore District Cricket Association (CDCA) paid homage to him here, on Friday.
"For four years, V.B. Chandrasekhar played league matches at CDCA and also represented Coimbatore district for inter districts cricket matches. He was the first player to score double century in the CDCA league", expressed CDCA through a press note.
The press release further noted that Chandrasekar's association with Coimbatore goes a long way, as he pursued Mechanical engineering in1986 at Coimbatore Institute of Technology. During the period he had played several matches representing the district.
"A hard-hitting opener, V.B. Chandrasekar represented India in seven ODIs, with an innings of 53 being his highest score. In 81 First Class matches, Chandrasekhar notched up 4999 runs at 43.09 with 10 centuries.
He dedicated his life to cricket. He has served as a coach, team owner and commentator and was a very warm person. His sudden demise has left us all in shock", the press release noted.
