Coimbatore : S Ruban, first year commerce student in CMS college of science and commerce has made the city proud by clinching the gold medal at the 12th Asian Karate Championship organised by International Meibukan Gojuryu Karate do Association, which was held at Adithya Institute Of Technology.
Coimbatore : S Ruban, first year commerce student in CMS college of science and commerce has made the city proud by clinching the gold medal at the 12th Asian Karate Championship organised by International Meibukan Gojuryu Karate do Association, which was held at Adithya Institute Of Technology.
Over 1200 participants from various countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Nepal, Japan and SriLanka vied for the honours in various age and weight categories.
The championship was conducted for sub juniors, juniors and seniors.
Ruban took part the boys category(17 years) in which he exhibited his skills to perfection to bag the gold.

Earlier, Ruban had secured Gold medal in national level open Karate championship in 18+ years boys category and All India level Karate championship in 2017 and has several gold medals behind his name since 2013.
He also won bronze medal in the 7th world karate championship in 2014. He has been taking part in the karate championship from the age of 12.
Ruban is very passionate in Karate, participating in various the district, state, national and international level competitions and preparing himself for the Olympics.
Ruban while talking to simplicity said that "winning gold medal at the Olympics is his ultimate goal and he is working towards it".
