Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Collector, K Rajamani along with members of the Coimbatore District Athletic Association inaugurated the district level 'V Mayilsamy Memorial Junior Athletic Meet' organised by the Coimbatore District Athletic Association (CDAA) here at Nehru Stadium, in the city, on Wednesday. Over 1500 athletes are participating in the two-day Meet.

CDAA organised the District-level Athletic Meet for school and club students. The two-day athletic meet provides a platform for athletes to take part in the state and national level meets since the first three medalists in this Meet will qualify to take part in the state level meet to be held in Chennai, from August 30-September 1.
The Meet is being conducted for both boys and girls under various age categories like Under 14,16,18 and 20. Students from various schools and clubs in the city competed in the track and field events.
