Coimbatore : More than 120 volunteers of Kovai Kulangal Padhukappu Amaippu, split in three groups took part with zeal in the 129th week cleaning activity at Vellalore lake on Sunday.
Coimbatore : More than 120 volunteers of Kovai Kulangal Padhukappu Amaippu, split in three groups took part with zeal in the 129th week cleaning activity at Vellalore lake on Sunday.

While one group of volunteers were involved in clearing the garbage from the lake; the other two groups were busy creating Miyawaki patches by filling the pits with dry leaves and other organic remains.

Around 159 saplings initiated by the Income-tax department and 72 saplings by Bank of Baroda were planted with the help of volunteers around the bund area of Vellalore lake.

Volunteers were also involved in making a compost pit by collecting and filling the pit with vegetable and fruit wastes from the markets.

"The active participation of children along with their parents brought more hope and meaning to the cleaning activity", cheered the organisers.
