Coimbatore : Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chennai emerged as champions in the State level inter school basketball tournament for 'Sri Sakthi basketball Trophy' organised by Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology here on Friday.
Coimbatore : Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chennai emerged as champions in the State level inter school basketball tournament for 'Sri Sakthi basketball Trophy' organised by Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology here on Friday.

Around 20 school teams across the State took part in the tournament which kick started on July 24. The tournament was conducted under knockout basis in which Velammal MHSS, KK Naidu Memorial school, M S P Solai Nadar and PSG Sarvajana qualified to the semi finals.
Among the four semi finalists, Velammal from Chennai and K.K Naidu, Coimbatore made through to the finals in which Velammal (75 points) with ease sealed the opponent, K.K Naidu (26 points) by a huge difference and lifted the trophy.

M.S.P Solai Nadar, Dindigul and PSG Sarvajana clashed for the third place in which the former PSG Sarvajana by 94-75.
The winners of the tournament were presented with Rs. 20,000 cash and trophy. While the first and second runners up were presented with Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively.

R.P. Ravichandran, District Sports Officer, presented the trophies and cash prizes to the winners.
