Coimbatore : City youth bagged a total of nine medals at the 20th MTI (R) National Amateur Muaythai Championship organised by Muay Thai Association at Bangalore on Monday.
Coimbatore : City youth bagged a total of nine medals at the 20th MTI (R) National Amateur Muaythai Championship organised by Muay Thai Association at Bangalore on Monday.
The competition was kick-started on July 12 in which around 200 students participated from various parts of India. The competition was conducted under two categories - the Under 14 years Sub Junior category and Junior category for students between 14-16 years of age.

Nine students from Coimbatore represented Tamil Nadu in the competition and secured nine medals comprising of two gold, five silver and two bronze medals in the overall competition.

The Junior Girls, Ashiya and Hamna Firnas secured silver in their respective weight category while in the Boys section, Elaya Bharathi secured gold in the 34 kg weight category. In the Sub Junior category, Nihal Rahith clinched gold, while Nafil Shahith, Zayeem Ashiq and Dhanif secured silver and Danish Gibran and Shihad clinched bronze in their respective weight categories.
