Coimbatore: After winning his first international gold at Kazakhstan a week ago, Mohammad Salahuddin from Coimbatore has claimed his second international gold in triple jump at XXII Tatyana Kolpakova International Athletics Championships at Kyrgyzstan on Sunday.
Coimbatore: After winning his first international gold at Kazakhstan a week ago, Mohammad Salahuddin from Coimbatore has claimed his second international gold in triple jump at XXII Tatyana Kolpakova International Athletics Championships at Kyrgyzstan on Sunday.

Twenty five year old triple jumper from the city has clinched international gold at Krygyzstan in 16.53 mts to add one more international gold to his wallet.
Earlier, Salahuddin had won gold at the Junior South Asian Athletic Federation Championship in 2014 and also participated in the Junior Asian Championships. He is the first athlete from Coimbatore at the World University Games in 2015, representing Bharathiar University.
XXII Tatyana Kolpakova International athletic Championship was held at Kyrgyzstan on July 13 and 14 in which athletes from South Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, Mongolia, Turkey, Moldova, Belarus, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, India, Sri Lanka and Kyrgyzstan participated in the competition.
The competition was conducted in the memory of Tatyana Kolpakova, a retired long jumper who represented the USSR and later Kyrgyzstan. Kolpakova won the gold medal with her jump of 7.06 meters, which was a new record for the sport. She became the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR. After finishing her competitive career Kolpakova worked for as a coach for a brief time.
