Coimbatore: Around 40 teams are taking part in the 6th Golden Jubilee State level basketball tournament for men which was kick started at PSG Tech indoor basketball stadium here on Monday.
Coimbatore: Around 40 teams are taking part in the 6th Golden Jubilee State level basketball tournament for men which was kick started at PSG Tech indoor basketball stadium here on Monday.
The tournament is being conducted by PSG sports club from July 8 to 12 at their college premises. All leading basketball clubs across Tamil Nadu will be taking part in the tournament which is being conducted under knockout and league basis.
In the first day of the tournament, Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu (SDAT) Coimbatore and Jayabharathi Basketball club shone in their opening game as SDAT, Coimbatore thrashed PSG Sports Club by 47-29 (V G Rohit of SDAT scored 12points) to open their account. And, Jayabharathi defeated Uppilipalayam basketball Club by 65-44. (Navaneeth of Jayabharathi scored 17 points).
PSG Pharmacy played against CBBE in which the former claimed its first victory in the tournament by defeating the opponent with a difference of 30 points (64-34). Nithin Selvam of PSG pharmacy scored 20 points for his side.
In yet another match, Vikram's brilliant performance of adding 20 points to his side, Rajalakshmi sports club clinched victory over Friends basketball club by 71:45.
