City's ace Body Sculptor Jaya Mahesh clinches bronze at National Women's Masters Athletic Championship

Coimbatore: Model and title winner of several national beauty pageants from Coimbatore, ace body sculptor Jaya Mahesh (50) added another feather to her cap by winning the bronze medal in the Discus Throw at the first National Women's Masters Athletic Championship 2019.

Coimbatore: Model and title winner of several national beauty pageants from Coimbatore, ace body sculptor Jaya Mahesh (50) added another feather to her cap by winning the bronze medal in the Discus Throw at the first National Women's Masters Athletic Championship 2019. 

The Championship was organised by the Goa Masters Athletic Association at the Bambolim Athletic Stadium in Goa. 



Speaking to the media after her victory, Jaya Mahesh revealed that the quote, "Push your boundaries, that’s what they are there for" inspired and nudged her to explore the unexplored. 

Expressing her gratitude to her coach Narayanan, Gold Crust Throw Sports Academy, Jaya Mahesh said, "Narayanan is a great coach. He trains students and veterans for exclusive throw events. He spent quality time to train me."

The versatile Jaya Mahesh said that being a first-timer by taking up sports at the age of 50 and competing with seasoned veterans was really challenging. 

"Age is not a barrier. Whatever be the age we have to face our opponents," opined Jaya Mahesh. She added that the Meet proved to be a perfect litmus test.



"Importantly, it was a perfect platform to practise what I teach, day in and day out. It was an eye-opener," added Jaya. 

"Even people in their 70s, fighting with zest and quest for medals was something to witness," added the bronze medallist who has now qualified to take part in the Asian Championships to be held in Malaysia in 2019.
