Coimbatore: The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) Basketball Club coasted to the semi-finals of the 65th YMCA Basketball Tournament for the S Venkatakrishnan Trophy, after defeating RSC Basketball Club by 33 points, here in the city on Wednesday.
Coimbatore: The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) Basketball Club coasted to the semi-finals of the 65th YMCA Basketball Tournament for the S Venkatakrishnan Trophy, after defeating RSC Basketball Club by 33 points, here in the city on Wednesday.

The YMCA Basketball Tournament is one of the oldest district level tournaments in which about 80 teams from Coimbatore take part. The tournament is being conducted under Mini boys category (under 13 years), Junior boys category for school boys from Classes 6 to 10, Men and Women categories on a knockout basis.

In the men's category, YMCA played against RSC in the quarter final, YMCA showed their intent to win right from the blow of the first whistle till the end, ensuring their spot in the semi-finals. YMCA (71) beat RSC (38) by 33 points, with Michael of YMCA scoring 19 points for his side.

The United Basketball Club defeated Southern Warriors by 70-55 to enter the other semi-final, while 110 Battalion on the other hand reserved their place in the semi final by registering a thumping win over RLMHS Basketball Club scoring 86-83.
