Coimbatore: Around 320 martial artists from Malaysia, Qatar and various part of India are part of the three-day workshop 'Porthozhil Palagu' organised by Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) starting from today.
Coimbatore: Around 320 martial artists from Malaysia, Qatar and various part of India are part of the three-day workshop 'Porthozhil Palagu' organised by Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) starting from today.

The workshop aims to preserve and create awareness on martial arts and also to motivate martial artists. The three-day workshop includes arts such as Silambam, Kuthu varisai, Kurunthadi, Valari, Kalari, Mallar kambam, Ogam and Varma.

'Porthozhil Palagu', is an intitaive by Kumaraguru Tamil Mandram and Nithilam which focusses on promoting ancient warfare practices.
Artists from Nagam 16 Silamba Kalai Koodam from Panruti, Aasu Dilamba Porkalai Kalagam from Paacharappalaiyam and Sepang Silambam Kalagam from Malaysia will be performing martial arts.

"Martial artists is a way of life. It will help youngsters learn values, principles of life with a sense of justice and respect", opine the artists.

The trainers are Dato Mahaguru, A. Sivakumar - Malaysia, Kalai Nanmani Mahaguru, Chidambaram-Keelmampattu, Aasan Rajadurai - Paacharappalaiyam, K.Chandramauli - United States of America, Aasan Prabhu Mathivanan, Aasan Veera Pandian, Mallan Babu, Mallan Selva - Mallar Kambam team, Karthik Raja and Team - Valari, Ramesh Babu - Bengaluru, Murugesan, Mr.Rajesh Ram - Kanyakumari - Kalari and Varma, Dr.Sundar Balasubramanian, Medical University of South Carolina .
