Coimbatore: To unearth talents at the grassroots level and develop sporting skills in tandem with education, Chennaiyin FC has inaugurated its Football Academy at the Rathinam International Public School, here in the city, on Thursday.

Alagan, the Executive Director of Rathinam Group said, "Sports plays an important role in a student's life and every parent today knows the importance of a game like football. But at the same time, we encourage students and parents to focus on other games too. This is the time to redefine today's culture by spending more time on the ground rather than being addicted to electronic gadgets."

Inaugurating the event, Krishnadeep Menon, Chief Operating Officer, Chennaiyin FC said, "Chennaiyin FC has active Academies in five districts of Tamil Nadu and our motive is to promote more players from Tamil Nadu to represent Chennaiyin FC, as well as other leagues and for the country. As of now, there are more number of players from the North Eastern parts who are playing in the leagues and in the national team."
"Through this Academy, we create more chances for our State players to get an opportunity in the national team, but at same time, we cannot assure that every player trained at the Academy will find a place in Chennaiyin FC. Moreover, there are a lot of career options in sports and parents should encourage their children to take up sports as a career," opined Krishnadeep Menon. He also added that Chennaiyin FC not only works on the skills of the students but also focuses on their health and fitness.

The Academy is open for all students between ages 6-15 years and also aims to spot talent from rural areas. For more information, those interested can contact Nagaraj on 9566826333 and at the Office on 0422-4040925.
