Coimbatore : The U14 team from the City has entered into the semi finals of the TNCA U14 cricket tournament (inter districts) by sealing Krishnagiri with a lead of 63 at a match held at PSG IMS A on Wednesday.
Coimbatore : The U14 team from the City has entered into the semi finals of the TNCA U14 cricket tournament (inter districts) by sealing Krishnagiri with a lead of 63 at a match held at PSG IMS A on Wednesday.
After winning the toss in the two day match, Coimbatore decided to field first. The Coimbatore boys were very strict on their line and length which kept the opponent batsmen in pressure. With Hari K Pandya breaking the opening pair of Krishnagiri, other bowlers pounced and took wickets in regular intervals. Thus, bundling out Krishnagiri in the 84th over for 170.
In return, Coimbatore were 39 for no loss at day 1 stumps. Resuming batting at day 2, Coimbatore completed their full quota 90 overs and scored 237 for 8 wickets in the first innings. Since Coimbatore leads 63 runs in the first innings, Coimbatore qualified to the semi finals of the tournament.
Krishnagiri 170 in 83.3 Overs (T.Surya Prasad 3/29) Coimbatore 237/8 in 90 Overs (S.Sanjay Kumar 55), Coimbatore by virtue of 1st innings lead got qualified to the semifinals.
