TNCA U-19 state level cricket tournament: Coimbatore beats Theni to stay alive in tournament

Coimbatore: After losing to Kancheepuram in the opener, the Coimbatore lads came back hard in the TNCA U-19 state level cricket tournament by registering a thumping 191-run victory over Theni, here at the PSG Medical College grounds on Tuesday.

Coimbatore: After losing to Kancheepuram in the opener, the Coimbatore lads came back hard in the TNCA U-19 state level cricket tournament by registering a thumping 191-run victory over Theni, here at the PSG Medical College grounds on Tuesday.



In a do-or-die situation, the Coimbatore lads did not buckle under pressure on the field but rather displayed top batting skills and posted a good total on the scoreboard. Inspired by the responsible batting display, the Coimbatore bowlers took charge led by R Ashwin who scalped 4 wickets. Coimbatore bundled out Theni for 50 runs in 37 overs and registered its first victory in the tournament.



Scores : Coimbatore 241/7 in 50 overs (R Santosh 33, N D Hari Shankar 65, N Thikish 44, S Hariprasath 3/40) defeated Theni 50 in 36.4 overs (N Thikish 2/11, K Baladharan 2/10, R Ashwin 4/8).



In another match at the PSG Medical College grounds, Kancheepuram registered its second consecutive win, defeating Vellore by 10 wickets. Vellore were all out for 89 runs in 36.2 overs, and Kancheepuram chased down the target with ease. 




Scores : Vellore 89 In 36.2 overs (Salman Usman Khan 4/12, R S Thilak 3/16) lost to Kancheepuram 90/0 In 12 overs (R Yash 45* , Vignesh S Iyer 39*).
