Tirupur: The International Silambam Federation students from the city bagged 17 medals, including 7 gold medals at the state level Silambam competition organised by the United Sports Silambam Federation in Tirupur, recently.
Seven students from ISF participated in the competition conducted for various age groups - sub juniors, juniors and seniors. The event witnessed over 200 participants from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Madurai, Chennai, Villupuram and Theni districts. The ISF students bagged 7 gold medals, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals in the competition helping Coimbatore secure second place, next only to Chennai in the overall championship.
Winners : Ravivarma (2 gold, 1 bronze), Lakshmi Priyadharshini (2 gold and a bronze), Mughilan (1 bronze), Neha Sivakumar (1 gold and a silver), Sanjay Sivakumar (2 bronze), Lishanth Sriram (2 gold and a silver), Lakshmi Premkumar (2 silver and a bronze).
Actor Dhamu was the chief guest at the prize distribution event and awarded prizes to the winners. Dr. Mathan S Raja, Chairman of ISF and trainers Nandha Kumar and Sankar Ganesh congratulated the winners.
