Ramakrishna Mills T20 trophy: A 'Super Over' thrilling victory for Kovai Knights

Coimbatore : In a thrilling match between Kovai Knights and Sri Ramakrishna Mills sports club, the former lifted the CDCA Sri Ramakrishna Mills T20 trophy by defeating the home team in a super over.


Coimbatore : In a thrilling match between Kovai Knights and Sri Ramakrishna Mills sports club, the former lifted the CDCA Sri Ramakrishna Mills T20 trophy by defeating the home team in a super over.

The finals of CDCA Sri Ramakrishna Mills Trophy was held here at PSG medical college grounds on Sunday.

Batting first in the finals, Kovai Knights team with Shajahan's responsible knock of 39 helped them score 146 in 20 overs. Defending 7 runs per over against a strong batting side, the bowlers of Kovai Knights stuck on to the basics and restricted them from scoring easy runs. 



Despite a tight bowling attack by the Kovai Knights, the batsmen of Ramakrishna Mills fought hard and made the scores tie resulting to a super over. 

In the super over, Sri Ramakrishna Mills managed to hit 10 run in 6 balls, while Kovai Knights scored 11 runs in 0.5 overs and lifted the trophy.

Super Over : Sri Ramakrishna Mills sports club 10/0 in 1 Over Lost to Kovai Knights 11/0 in 0.5 over.

In the looser finals, Cosmo Village Sports Academy 136/9 in 20 Overs (R.Vijaya Kumar 39, P.Rajasekaran 5/31) but lost to E.A.P Cricket Academy 138/3 in 16.1 Overs (A.V.Abilash 62*, K.Mani bharathy 48).

C.Hari Nishaanth of Sri Ramakrishna Mills Sports Club was selected as best batsman of the tournament, while Jash K Kankaria of Sri Ramakrishna Mills Sports Club was selected as best bowler of the tournament. 

The best wicket keeper of the tournament was awarded to E Manoharan of Sri Ramakrishna Mills sports club and A.V. Abilash of EAP Cricket Academy was selected as player of the tournament.

D.Lakshmi Narayanaswamy, President of The Coimbatore District Cricket Association gave away the trophies to the winners.
