Coimbatore : Hariram's heroic performance in the final clash of the All India Basketball Tournament for 54th Nachimuthu Gounder Trophy led Indian bank to lift the trophy in a tight game against the Income tax here at the CDBA Basketball Court on Saturday.

Team Income Tax started with a bang with Jeeva scoring the first shot of the exciting finals who kept scoring points before the Indian bank opened their account. Indian bank took their time to score their first points and when Gineeb Benny opened the account for his side, Indian bank scored few points in quick time.
Three shooter from Hariram gave them 4 points lead to conclude the first quarter.

Though Income tax scored early in the second quarter, Indian bank continued their dominance by scoring and maintaining a lead with healthy margin.
At the end of the second quarter, Indian bank extended their lead to 11 points 24-35.
The senior men from income tax gave a tough fight which got them close to the Indian bank. Their efforts reduced the lead from 11 points to 3 points at the end of third quarter.
Though the opponent dominated the quarter, Hariram's performance gave confidence for team Indian bank.
Spectators were at the edge of their seats in the final quarter of the game, as both the team were strategically progressive and fought hard for the trophy.
At last, it was Hariram's heroic game that brought joy for the Indian bank. Hariram kept scoring and lead them towards clinching victory in the 54th Nachimuthu Gounder Trophy.

It is to be noted that this is the third Nachimuthu Gounder Trophy for Indian bank.

In Women's category, Southern Railways lifted the 18th C.R I. Pump Trophy, as they sealed South Central Railways in a neck to neck match by 2 points.

The well-placed Southern Railways exhibited class skill from the beginning and took a lead of four points in the first quater.
Southern Railways kept calling for points in the second quarter too and the three shooters from Adhirai and Anitha Paul Durai helped them to extent their lead to 7 points at the end of second quarter.
Continuing their good form from the second quarter southern Railways started the third quarter well and carried the form to extent their lead to 10 points. Adirai scored a three shooter to help them maintain the margin 35-45.
South central Railways gave a good fight in the last quarter, as they caught up Southern Railways 47-47 to equalise the points. From then it was clueless for the spectators to guess the winning side.
Though the girls from Secunderabad fought hard in the final minutes, the South central Railways got tensed and comitted silly mistakes in the last few minutes resulting to their fall. They fell short of Southern Railways by 2 points.
Darshini of Southern Railways was selected as 'outstanding player' of the tournament.

Dr. Balaji Saravanan, Deputy Commissioner of police was the chief guest to the prize distribution who gave away the cash prizes and trophies to the winners. Cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh to the winners and 50000 to the runners were presented.
Teams that secured third and fourth place were presented with Rs.20,000 and 15,000 respectively.
Similarly in the Women's category Rs. 50,000 was awarded to the winners, while the runners up was presented with Rs. 25,000.

Teams that grabbed the third and fourth spots received a cash prize of Rs.15,000 and 10,000 respectively.
