Coimbatore: Income Tax (Chennai) clinched a thrilling 68-64 points victory over Indain Air Force (New Delhi) to enter the finals of All India Basketball tournament for 54th Nachimuthu Gounder Trophy held here at CDBA Basketball Court on Friday.

It was a equal fight in the first quarter of the match, as both the teams fought hard to add points. At the end of the first quarter, both the teams were equal at 16 points each. It was during the second quarter, the match turned in favour of Income tax team, as IAF was made feel the pressure and missed a lot of scoring opportunities.
In the second quarter, Income tax team went 9 points ahead of IAF and made their way to the finale. The spirit of the players coupled with their confidence led the team in the right path. They started scoring from the early minutes of third quarter and extended their lead to 13 points at the end of third quarter.
The match turned thrilling at the last 10 minutes where IAF gave a real fight, as they scored 28 points in last quarter. The finals few minutes were even more thrilling, as the captain of IAF, Joginder Singh Sharan scored four 3 pointers and increased the pulse rate of the spectators.
Unfortunately, all his efforts went in vain since Income tax team managed to score in the last minute and take home victory by 4 points at the final whistle.
