Coimbatore: Kovai Knights defeated Suryabala Cricket Club by 25 runs to enter the semi finals of the district level T20 cricket tournament, jointly organised by the CDCA and Sri Ramakrishna Mills, here in the city.
Coimbatore: Kovai Knights defeated Suryabala Cricket Club by 25 runs to enter the semi finals of the district level T20 cricket tournament, jointly organised by the CDCA and Sri Ramakrishna Mills, here in the city.
The T20 tournament kick-started on May 11 with 40 teams participating. The quarter finals of the tournament was conducted on Tuesday at the PSG Medical College grounds.

In the first quarter final match, Kovai Knights clashed with Suryabala CC in which Kovai Knights scored 163/7 in 20 overs. M Shajahan of Kovai Knights scored 82 to consolidate his team total. Defending the decent score, Kovai Knights bowlers held a strict line and length, conceding less than six runs per over, which nailed their opponents. Though Karthik and Suresh Kumar fought back hard, their efforts went in vain.

Scores: Kovai Knights 163/7 in 20 Overs(M Shajahan 82) defeated Suryabala Cricket Club 138/5 in 20 Overs (S Karthick 41, J Suresh Kumar 36).

In another quarter finals match at the PSG Medical College grounds, E.A.P Cricket Academy defeated Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology C C. by 7 wickets to qualify for a semi-final berth.
Scores: Sri Sakthi Institute of Engg & Tech C.C 101/5 in 20 Overs (P Anantha Manikandan 58*) but lost to E.A.P Cricket Academy 102/3 in 15.4 Overs (A V Abilash 37)
