Coimbatore : To commemorate the Grassroots day, Asian football confederation conducted a free football coaching camp for boys and girls between 6-16 years of age on May 15 all over the country.

Podanur Soccer Club is one among the Clubs selected to conduct Grassroots programme. The camp was held at V.S Sengottaiah Memorial High School, Podanur in the city.
Around 45 students from various schools participated in the programme during which basic techniques, skills, rules and regulations of football, importance and benefits of playing were inculcated to the participants.
Raja Rajan, President of Podanur Soccer Club, Rajesh, Secretary and Sanakkiyan, Treasurer made necessary arrangements for the camp.

Grassroots football is football for boys and girls between 6-16 years of age. Grassroots football is simple, fun and easy to organise and is an introduction to the game for any child. It provides children the access to football in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment.
A good introduction of football to every child and ensuring that the children enjoy football, will help in the child continuing to participate in the sport in the long run.
