Coimbatore : N D Hari Shankar's blitzkrieg innings of 182 and a brilliant bowling spell from P Nirmal Kumar who scalped 6 wickets giving away just 10 runs paved the way for the Coimbatore U19 team to register an innings and 182-run win over Tirupur in the TNCA under-19 inter district cricket tournament held at the PSG IMS grounds here, on Tuesday.

In a two-day quarter finals match that began on Monday, batting first the Tirupur batsmen buckled under the pressure built by the Coimbatore bowlers and were bundled out for a paltry 81 runs in 37.5 overs. Following up the good bowling effort, the Coimbatore batsmen did well to post a huge total 332/7 on board, in the first innings.

The Coimbatore bowlers then ran through the Tirupur batsmen once again in the second innings, leaving Tirupur with a score of just 69 runs, thus registering an innings and 182-run victory, to qualify for the semi finals of the tournament.

Tirupur 81 in 37.5 Overs (K Baladharan 4/17) & 69 in 27.5 Overs (K Dravid 38, P Nirmal Kumar 6/10) lost to Coimbatore 332/7 declared in 85 Overs (C Sathyanarayanan 88, N D Hari Shankar 182, P Nirmal Kumar 31, B Iyappan 4/100).
