IPL 2019 Orange Cap: Nitish Rana overtakes Rishabh Pant to reach top spot

IPL Orange Cap 2019: Kolkata Knight Riders’ Nitish Rana overtook Rishabh Pant to take the top spot in the Orange Cap list after he scored a second consecutive fifty in the IPL 2019 clash against Kings XI Punjab. The left-handed batsman, who scored 63 runs in 34 balls, has now scored 131 runs in 2 games. Delhi Capitals’ Pant, on the other hand, has scored 103 runs in as many games. KKR’s Robin Uthappa is on the third spot with 102 runs on two matches, while Chris Gayle (88) and Andre Russell (97) finish the top five spots.

The Orange Cap is an annual cricket award given to the player who finishes the season of Indian Premier League as the leading run scorer. Throughout the tournament the batsman who has the most runs gets to wear the cap while on the field. The batsman who finishes the tournament with the most runs wins the award. Last year, it was Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Kane Williamson who won the prize.

No player has won the cap in two consecutive seasons.
