Coimbatore : Avinashilingam University's kick boxing team bagged six medals at the All India Inter University Kick Boxing Championship hosted by the Andhra University Sports Board at Visakhapatnam between March 8-12.
Coimbatore : Avinashilingam University's kick boxing team bagged six medals at the All India Inter University Kick Boxing Championship hosted by the Andhra University Sports Board at Visakhapatnam between March 8-12.
The team comprising of 11 women from Avinashilingam University took part in the championship in which six boxers emerged victorious by bagging three silver and three bronze medals.
V Hemalatha (full contact category), S Mathumathi (point boxing) and R Umadevi (kick light category) secured silver medals while G Sushmitha (full contact), P Priyanka (point fight) and R Sanjila (low kick) bagged the bronze medals. Priyanka, Sanjila, Vijila, Hemalatha, Ezhilarasi ,Nesika, Priya, Umadevi, Mathumathi, Sushmitha and Selvapriya were the 11 players in the team.
Dr. Premavathy Vijayan,Vice Chancellor of Avinashilingam University, Dr. S Kowsalya, Registrar, Dr. Saravana Prabha, Head of Physical Education Department and Dr. P Nandhini, Sports Secretary of Avinashilingam Institute congratulated the medallstts, and motivated them to bring more laurels to the University and to the District.
