Over 1200 participate in 'PSG Tech Mini Marathon' for plastic ban awareness

Coimbatore : As many as 1245 students and staff of PSG Tech and PSG Polytechnic participated in the PSG Mini Marathon to create awareness on ban of plastics.

Coimbatore : As many as 1245 students and staff of PSG Tech and PSG Polytechnic participated in the PSG Mini Marathon to create awareness on ban of plastics. The event was hosted by the Department of Physical Education of PSG College of Technology, on Sunday. 



Participants at the mini marathon comprised of college students and staff, and was conducted under two categories (7.5 km for college students boys and 4.5 km for college staff). The marathon was flagged off by Dr. R Ruthramoorthy, Principal of PSG Technology and Dr. Giri Raj, Principal of PSG Polytechnic.



The marathon which kick-started at the PSG College of Technology grounds was routed through PSG Medical College, Fun Mall New scheme road, G V Residency, Uppilipalayam, Masakali Palayam, Sowripalayam, Fun Mall road and PSG IMSR. 



A Esakki Muthu, a second year ECE student was the winner in the Men's category, crossing the finish line in 27.24 minutes while in the Women's category, M Divyadharshini, a fourth year ECE student completed the race in 27.10 minutes to emerge as winner. Cash awards and certificates were presented to the top 10 finishers of the races. Nataraj, the Students Committee Dean distributed the prizes to the winners of the marathon.
